Catering for a workshop day: Here’s how the day unfolds
Catering for a workshop day is on-site catering in which the meals are tailored to a day’s program consisting of multiple sessions, so that breaks remain short and the program runs on schedule.
In short: De Catering Compagnon provides on-site workshop and training days in Amsterdam, Landsmeer, and Zaandam. Cold lunches are available for groups of 15 or more, hot lunches for groups of 20 or more, and appetizers for groups of 15 or more.
A workshop day stands or falls on the pace. Every break that runs over pushes the schedule back. That’s why we coordinate the catering with the schedule, just as we do for a team-building day in Amsterdam.
Catering for a workshop day starts with the program
Please let us know what time the sessions start and end, and how long the breaks are. We’ll adjust our setup accordingly: what’s ready before the doors open and what we’ll add in between.
For short, 15-minute breaks, something you can hold in your hand works well. For a long afternoon break, there might be a full lunch. That difference determines what’s included.
We’ll arrive well before the event starts and set everything up. Throughout the day, we’ll restock supplies and clean up, so that no one on your end has to handle anything between sessions.
Lunch in the middle of the day
On a day with many sessions, a cold lunch works best. People eat more quickly and then get right back to work. We provide cold lunches for groups of 15 or more, such as for a corporate lunch in Amsterdam.
If it’s a long day or if it’s cold outside, a hot lunch is a better choice for groups of 20 or more. It does require a power outlet at the table and a little more setup time.
Sourdough bread from our own kitchen serves as the base, topped with ingredients from our own suppliers and salads made from freshly cut vegetables.
Catering for a workshop day, followed by drinks afterward
Does the day end with drinks? If so, we’ll serve them separately so they don’t feel like an extension of lunch. We provide appetizers for groups of 15 or more; see also our appetizer catering in Amsterdam.
A cocktail party after a day of substantive discussions has a different atmosphere: people stand, walk around, and continue their conversations. Finger foods that you can pick up with one hand work better in this setting than anything served on a plate with cutlery.
If the drinks party continues into the evening, you might want to serve something a little more substantial. A buffet is a good option for groups of 30 or more.
Dietary Preferences and Quantities
We accommodate vegetarian, vegan, halal, and gluten-free requests across the board. Please specify the quantity for each option in your request, and we’ll divide them among the platters.
During a workshop day, the number of participants fluctuates more than with a permanent team, because participants sometimes don’t confirm until the last minute. Please provide an estimated number and let us know about any changes as soon as you’re aware of them.
We need space to set up, electricity, and a place to charge our equipment. If there are specific time restrictions at the venue, please indicate this in your request.
